Food Drive May 2011

The month of May was the Curves annual food drive for 2011, where Curves branches all over the world collect non-perishable food and provide a helping hand for the local community. The slogan “give a little, save a lot” was used, but with open hearts our members decided to give a lot – more than 600kgs of food.

And a lot was saved – we quickly realised how much need there really is, when local schools informed us of 55 families to provide for. And I’m sure this is just the tip of the iceberg. You realise this when you reach a school with a car full of groceries (2 cars were loaded to the point where ground clearance became an issue – about 10 trolley loads) and you see the tears in the eyes of the staff as they accept the donation with genuine gratefulness.

So a huge THANK YOU to all our members that made this happen. With all the food collected over the world (more than 1700kgs just between Cobble Walk, Edgemead and Brackenfell), we made a difference. YOU made a difference.
